Damaging Wind in New Jersey, June 30, 1998
A squall line of severe thunderstorms produced wind damage along the northern part of Ocean County as trees and power lines were knocked down in Dover and Lakewood Townships and Mantoloking Borough. One roadway was blocked by fallen trees in Lakewood Township and a 150-year-old tree was among the uprooted trees in Dover Township.

A squall line of severe thunderstorms produced wind damage along the northern part of Ocean County as trees and power lines were knocked down in Dover and Lakewood Townships and Mantoloking Borough. One roadway was blocked by fallen trees in Lakewood Township and a 150-year-old tree was among the uprooted trees in Dover Township. A squall line of severe thunderstorms produced scattered pockets of downed trees and wires throughout Monmouth County and caused the most problems in the western part of the county. About 16,000 of the 42,000 power outages in the GPU service area occurred in Monmouth and Ocean Counties.
