As thunderstorms moved east across the area, they produced frequent lightning strikes, brief heavy downpours, and gusty winds.Lightning struck houses and trees. In Bergen County, the following four houses were struck by lightning, which resulted in fires:o 5 Herman Street in Northvale.o Cedar Lane and Fords Ave. in River Vale.o 44 Crosley Place in Hillsdale.o 39 Moeser Place in Old Tappan.The extent of damage is unknown. Trees were struck in Emerson and in North Arlington.
