Continuing a trend that lasted the whole winter, February 1998 was unseasonably warm across New Jersey and was also unseasonably wet across the coastal counties. At the Marina within Atlantic City, the mean temperature of 43.0 degrees for February was the warmest ever on record. The precipitation total of 5.99 inches was also the fifth wettest on record. At the Atlantic City International Airport in Pomona it was the third warmest February on record with a mean temperature of 40.2 degrees. It was also the sixth wettest February on record (4.89 inches of precipitation fell.). The unseasonably warm weather extended into nearby Pennsylvania as it was the warmest February ever in Allentown and the 3rd warmest February on record in Philadelphia.
