A series of thunderstorms with heavy rain moved across Middlesex County during the late afternoon and evening of the 1st. The last in a series of thunderstorms moved through the county between 10 and 11 p.m. EST and caused small stream, urban and poor drainage flooding in the county, especially in the northwest corner. The entire south side of Dunellen was closed to vehicular traffic because of the flooding. Piscataway police also had to close two roads and River Road (New Jersey State Route 18) was closed in Middlesex Borough. Storm totals included 1.69 inches in Iselin and 1.64 inches in New Brunswick. Nearly three inches of rain fell in some locations in neighboring Somerset County. No serious damage or injuries were reported.
