The Buchanan County Sheriff's Office reported damage to the roof of a school in De Kalb as a result of severe thunderstorm winds. Thunderstorm winds also blew a semi tractor trailer off the road along Highway 59 in South St. Joseph. There was also the report of structural damage to a home in South St. Joseph as a result of the strong winds. St. Joseph Power and Light reported that four main transmission line structures were destroyed in the storm resulting in a power loss for many customers for over 24 hours. Two barns were destroyed between De Kalb and Taos, and several other outbuildings were damaged.

Severe thunderstorm winds were clocked at 67 MPH at Kansas City International Airport. Two parked airliners were knocked together as a result of the wind gusts.

Severe thunderstorm winds gusted to 90 MPH in Liberty resulting in a crane toppling into Liberty Hospital. A 200 foot, fully extended crane smashed into the hospital garage just a few feet shy of the emergency room roof. A window adjacent to a hospital waiting room was shattered. There were no injuries but 10 to 15 patients were evacuated from the emergency room due to a leaking roof. Two ambulance attendants were placed at the front door of the hospital to accept emergencies. The damaging thunderstorm winds also caused widespread power and telephone outages in the Liberty area. The winds also resulted in fallen large tree limbs on many lawns.

Severe thunderstorm winds damaged a section of the roof at the Liberty Hall Museum in Kansas City. In Blue Springs, the police department reported several downed trees as a result of thunderstorm winds. The downed trees were reported at the intersection of 10th and Jones.

A National Weather Service employee reported large trees, 18 inches in diamter and 50 feet tall, blown over by severe thunderstorm winds. The winds also knocked down telephone lines in the Waverly area.

Severe thunderstorm winds gusted to 60 MPH at 195th and Holmes Streets in Belton. Other wind reports were from the Cass County Emergency Management officials were 75 MPH a mile north of Drexel and a 70 MPH gust in Drexel.
