An intense line of thunderstorms with wind gusts of at least 80 mph produced some of the worst tree and power line damage in North St. Louis County in some time. The bulk of the damage occurred north of I-270 from Hazelwood across Florissant to Blackjack to Bellefontaine Neighbors. Countless trees were either uprooted or snapped off at the base by the winds. Some homes and automobiles were damaged, mainly by falling trees or limbs. Electricity was out for some people into the next day.
