A severe thunderstorm produced a downburst with winds around 80 mph that lasted for at least 10 minutes across north St. Charles County. A large hanger at the St. Charles Airport was destroyed as were the 12 aircraft inside. Trees and power lines were downed and numerous outbuildings were destroyed in the West Alton area.
