Several days of excessive heat and humidity caused heat stress on those who were unprepared. Daytime highs were in the middle 90s with afternoon heat indicies up to 110 degrees. Three heat-related illnesses were reported at local hospitals. The Salvation Army distributed 20 fans at no charge to needy persons suffering from the heat.
