A light snowfall, the first of the season, provided a one-inch coating to extreme southeast Missouri. Very slippery road conditions were reported, and numerous accidents caused traffic problems. Very cold road surfaces allowed the snow to stick readily to the pavement, and then turn to ice in some places.
