The Battle Creek Enquirer reported a lightning strike caused $8,000 in damage to a married couple's rented home at 17 N. 20th Street in Battle Creek. The fire started in the basement and smoke filled the home, damaging $3,000 worth of contents according to Battle Creek fire-fighters. No one was injured.
