Flooding in Massachusetts, April 1 to 6, 1998
Several days of record warm temperatures at the end of March and resulting snowmelt sent the Connecticut River into flood during the last two days of March and the river crested during the first few days of April. Minor flooding occurred along the river for up to ten days at several locations.

Several days of record warm temperatures at the end of March and resulting snowmelt sent the Connecticut River into flood during the last two days of March and the river crested during the first few days of April. Minor flooding occurred along the river for up to ten days at several locations. Flood stage for the Connecticut River at Montague is 28 feet and the river crested at 31.10 feet at 2 AM on April 1st and then dropped below flood stage at 4 AM on April 5th. At Northampton, flood stage is 112 feet and the river crested at 115.0 feet at 1 PM on April 1st, then dropped below flood stage at 9 AM on April 6th.
