A large thunderstorm complex persisted over much of southwest Kentucky during the early morning hours. Very heavy rainfall amounts were observed, with generally 2 to 4 inches on average across the region. Most of this rain fell within a 4-hour period. Many instances of road flooding were reported. The most severe flooding occurred in the Hopkinsville area and Todd County, where radar estimated up to 5 inches fell. Many roads were closed, and homes were evacuated in Christian and Todd Counties.
