Tornado in Kansas, June 29, 1998
8 miles south of Mayetta. The tornado tore a portion of the roof off a mobile home, shattered windows or peeled off shingles on several houses, and damaged or destroyed at least 13 farm structures included a large barn and grain bin.

A mobile weather spotter reported that at tornado touched down in several locations from 2 miles southwest of Mayetta to 1.8 miles south of Mayetta. The tornado tore a portion of the roof off a mobile home, shattered windows or peeled off shingles on several houses, and damaged or destroyed at least 13 farm structures included a large barn and grain bin. Most damage was concentrated near the beginning and the end of the tornado's path. Between the two points of greatest damage several power lines, utility poles and large trees were also knocked down.
