Flooding in Indiana, July 20 to 22, 1998
Rainfall amounts from two to nearly ten inches across Bartholomew and northern Jackson Counties resulted initially in flash flooding, particularily in Columbus, as described in an associated Flash Flood entry. Rainfall amounts from two to nearly ten inches across Bartholomew and northern Jackson Counties resulted initially in flash flooding, particularily in Columbus, as described in an associated Flash Flood entry. This water quickly brought the East Fork White River and many of its tributaries up to as much as six feet above flood stage impacting agriculural lowlands and low lyine roads along these streams. As in other cases this summer, this did impact crop yields but this floods duration was rather short and had a lesser affect than did the June 1998 floods in these counties.
