Preceded by a steady light to occasionally moderate rainfall, a line of thunderstorms developed and moved east over the area. Thunderstorms produced torrential rains and frequent lightning.Torrential rains resulted in widespread small stream flooding. The Shetucket River in Taftville overflowed its' banks and caused flooding. In addition, many crops of strawberries in East Lyme and almost 2000 bales of hay in Pawcatuck were damaged from heavy rainfall.
