Southeasterly winds ahead of a moderate frontal system gusted up to 62 mph at Cape Newenham, 44 mph at Port Heiden and 58 mph at Cold Bay Wednesday and Thursday. By Friday, the front had slipped east and southeast...extending from the Alaska Peninsula to 300 miles southeast of Kodiak Island. Local wind gusts of 44 mph were reported just south of the Kenai Peninsula, east southeast of the Barren Island area, early Friday.
