A strong weather front moved over the Tanana Valley producing strong winds near the Alaska Range and also in the hills northwest of Fairbanks. Max Winds: Healy 30 kt gust 58 kt; Delta Junction 41 kt gust 55 kt. Co-op Observer at Dry Creek (45 miles southeast of Delta Junction estimated wind gusts to 60 mph. A Co-op observer who is a University of Alaska meteorologist in Fairbanks living on Chena Ridge reported some of the shingles his home were blown off, and a piece of plywood was lifted up and carried a short distance; he estimated wind gusts to 60 mph.
