Summary of events of May 8, 1997:Severe thunderstorms moved from southwest Oklahoma into south-central and parts of central Oklahoma during the afternoon and early evening of the 8th. Hail as large as golf balls was reported in Frederick and Tipton in Tillman County, southeast of Hollis in Harmon County, and southwest of Duke in Jackson County.

Summary of events of May 8, 1997:Severe thunderstorms moved from southwest Oklahoma into south-central and parts of central Oklahoma during the afternoon and early evening of the 8th. Hail as large as golf balls was reported in Frederick and Tipton in Tillman County, southeast of Hollis in Harmon County, and southwest of Duke in Jackson County. Severe thunderstorm winds were measured at speeds up to 61 mph south of Tipton in Tillman County and wind damage occurred in Healdton in Carter County.
