A slow moving band of thunderstorms again developed over central and southern Oneida county on this afternoon. The storms produced vivid cloud to ground lightning and locally heavy downpours. Five young boys were burned, one seriously, when lightning struck a metal dugout in which the youths were sitting during a little league baseball contest. The dugout itself also sustained significant damage as a large utility pole, which was also struck by lightning, toppled onto it.
