During the afternoon of July 9, a cold front crossed the mid Hudson Valley. This front initiated severe thunderstorms across Columbia, Dutchess and Ulster Counties. Due to damaging winds and lightning approximately 12,000 customers lost power in Dutchess and Ulster Counties.
