Severe thunderstorms developed over Kennebec County, then moved into Lincoln,Waldo, and Hancock Counties. Numerous large trees were knocked down as these thunderstorms moved southward and eastward. Particularly hard hit was the Oakland/North Sidney area where numerous trees were felled along the shores of Messalonski Lake. These storms knocked out electrical service to about 15,000 customers.
