Microbursts associated with a line of thunderstorms caused extensive damage at several locations in Christian County. A damage survey conducted by the National Weather Service determined wind speeds reached 70 to 75 MPH in the primary microburst which occurred in Hopkinsville. This microburst, which was about a mile long and 2/3 mile wide, damaged siding on a convenience store and pulled a phone booth out of the ground. Large trees were uprooted, causing damage to some homes. About 7 miles west of Hopkinsville, a barn was destroyed. A few trees or tree limbs were downed in scattered locations over primarily the west central part of the county.
