Flash Flood, Douglas

When: June 12, 5:00 PM CST to June 13, 12:00 AM CST
Where: Douglas County, Countywide
Coordinates: 39.770, -88.217 (the zone’s center; the record gives no point)

Thunderstorms moved across Douglas county dumping between 4 and 6 inches of rain in two hours over a large part of the county. In Tuscola, numerous businesses and homes sustained some flooding damage. A car dealership had 4 to 5 inches of water in its showroom and 7 inches in its shop. Meanwhile, in Villa Grove water was as deep as 4.5 feet in the center of town. Numerous homes on the west side of town had flooded yards and basements. No injuries were reported. Parts of Illinois 130 through Villa Grove and US 45 north of Tuscola were closed for awhile due to the flooding. No damage estimate was available.
