Large hail and destructive thunderstorm winds heavily damaged a number of crops across Morgan County. A few of the reports included: 85 percent crop loss on 13,000 acres of wheat, 10 percent crop loss in 100,000 acres of corn and 10 percent crop loss on 2,000 acres of alfalfa. Losses were also reported on beet and onion crops.

Intense straight line winds estimated to 80 mph (70 kts) lifted the roof off a barn. A modular home adjacent to the structure was heavily damaged. A wooden beam from the barn smashed into the wall of the home. Five vehicles, three parked inside the barn, were also damaged.

Excessive runoff from thunderstorms over northern Weld County the previous evening resulted in flooding problems near Barnesville, about 10 miles northeast of Greeley. Several homes along Crow Creek were evacuated due to the highwaters.

A woman was struck by lightning as she was walking to her car. The bolt apparently struck a nearby power line then arced into her left hand. She received minor injuries.
