preceding a strong north Pacific storm, built into the extreme northeastern Gulf of Alaska and the southeast Alaskan panhandle late Thursday and early Friday. Channelled winds through Turnagain Arm worked into the upper Anchorage hillside where gusts reached close to 50 mph around midnight Thursday.

Channelled winds through Turnagain Arm worked into the upper Anchorage hillside where gusts reached close to 50 mph around midnight Thursday. Winds diminished markedly by daylight Friday.
