Lightning Strike in Alaska, June 24, 1997
State Forestry personnel reported cloud to ground lightning in Cooper Landing Tuesday evening. This was the first time that any forestry officials can remember lightning in that area.

State Forestry personnel reported cloud to ground lightning in Cooper Landing Tuesday evening. This was the first time that any forestry officials can remember lightning in that area. This storm touched off a fire at Juneau Lake, along the Resurrection Pass Trail (north of Cooper Landing). Also, another thunderstorm near Hope Tuesday evening dumped "a lot of rain" while also starting a fire near Hope due to lightning.
