A strong front associated with an intense 950 mb low in the northwest Pacific elongated eastward across the extreme western Aleutians. Wind gusts of at least 60 mph were recorded at Shemya. Strong easterly winds between 55 and 70 mph were reported by several ships across the western Aleutians in advance of the front.
