A moderate weather front moved northwestward through the area late Sunday and Monday. Brisk easterly winds preceded the front. Gusts at Middleton Island, near Cordova, and in Prince William Sound were reported between 40 and 60 mph. The southern extremity of the front stalled around Kodiak Island and, coupled with building high pressure across southwest Alaska, produced wind gusts of 55 mph Tuesday.
