A Low pressure center (remains of tropical storm Scott) reaching 980 millibars over the central Bering Sea moved due north to the western Chukchi Sea near Wrangell Island. Strong High pressure persisting over southeast Alaska mainland created a strong pressure gradient over far west Alaska.
