In Martinsville, thunderstorm winds estimated from 80 to 90 mph broke out windows and tore roofs off of several businesses, overturned a vehicle and dumpsters, damaged 40 vehicles and numerous signs, and downed trees and power lines. Thunderstorm winds destroyed three mobile homes, knocked three mobile homes off their foundation, and damaged eight other mobile homes 3 miles northwest of Axton.

Severe thunderstorms during the early afternoon hours on the 8th produced damaging winds.In Martinsville, thunderstorm winds estimated from 80 to 90 mph broke out windows and tore roofs off of several businesses, overturned a vehicle and dumpsters, damaged 40 vehicles and numerous signs, and downed trees and power lines. A man was injured by flying debris while running to get inside.Thunderstorm winds destroyed three mobile homes, knocked three mobile homes off their foundation, and damaged eight other mobile homes 3 miles northwest of Axton. One mobile home was carried 300 feet. A woman was injured in a mobile home that was tossed 30 feet.Winds from severe thunderstorms damaged the roofs of four homes and destroyed three outbuildings four miles west of Ridgeway, destroyed a three car garage, knocked down telephone lines, and knocked a large tree onto a house four miles west-northwest of Axton, damaged the roof of four homes, destroyed a utility building, knocked a tree onto a house and damaged numerous trees two miles north of Axton, damaged the roofs of three homes and damaged several barns two miles north-northeast of Axton, damaged three barns, tore the roof off a shed and knocked down large trees one mile south-southwest of Sandy River, and damaged a mobile home and knocked down trees two miles north of Red House.
