Thunderstorms during the afternoon hours on the 11th produced damaging winds.Thunderstorm winds downed trees in Covington, Cana, Chatham, Roanoke, 5 miles west of Copper Hill, in Charlotte County, across southern portions of Grayson County, knocked down trees and power lines in Hillsville and across Franklin and Halifax Counties, and knocked trees down across a road 2 miles east of Laurel Fork. Just west of Galax in Grayson County, thunderstorm winds knocked down numerous trees, knocked a large tree on a truck, severely damaging the truck, and ripped a portion of a porch from a house.
