The extremely unstable atmosphere that had developed over Utah the past several days let loose on this date. Severe thunderstorms occurred in the late afternoon hours in Davis County. A small, short-lived tornado was observed in a Syracuse subdivision just north of Antelope Drive. The intersection of 1000 West and 1575 South was where the most damage occurred with numerous mature trees being blown down. Nearby houses escaped with only minor damage.
