Severe thunderstorms moved east across Wayne County from Fremont to the Greene County line. Several new homes under construction in the the Torhunta Estates in eastern Wayne county were destroyed. Numerous trees were blown down or snapped off in the same area. Crops in a 17 mile wide path of the storm sustained 50 percent total losses which included 1600 acres of cotton, 1800 acres of corn, 1800 acres of wheat, and 510 acres of tobacco.
