A thunderstorm developed over the Oquirrh Mountains and moved east across the Salt Lake Valley. Half-inch diameter hail fell as the storm tracked across the valley floor. Then as the storm hit the Wasatch Mountains on the east side of the valley it became severe. A spotter at the mouth of Little Cottonwood Canyon measured 1" diameter hail.
