Severe storms affected most counties across the western and central Texas South Plains during the evening of the 2nd. One brief, weak tornado was reported by spotters in southeast Lubbock County at Posey. There were numerous reports of up to golfball-size hail, which caused scattered property damage and crop damage. However, much larger hail (up to grapefruit-size!) fell in and near Denver City. Extensive damage occurred to hundreds of vehicles and buildings. One female was injured by the large hail as she rushed toward a tornado shelter. She suffered a gash on her head.
