Severe thunderstorms moved across northeast Oklahoma during the early morning of June 1st. Strong thunderstorm winds snapped telephone poles near 86th Street North and Memorial in Owasso. Trees were blown down in Cleora, and large tree limbs were blown down in Nowata and in Oologah. Thunderstorm winds gusted to 70 miles an hour in Welch and 6 miles southwest of Muskogee and to 60 to 70 miles an hour in Stone Bluff. Thunderstorm winds gusted to 60 miles an hour at several other locations in northeast Oklahoma. Quarter size hail fell 3 miles east of Burbank and at Wynona, and dime size hail fell at Welch and 2 miles east of Afton.
