Thunderstorms during the late afternoon and evening hours on the 3rd resulted in damaging winds, flash flooding, and river flooding in north-central North Carolina. Thunderstorm winds knocked trees onto roads in the northeastern portion of Rockingham County.Heavy rainfall, mainly in the eastern part of Rockingham County, sent many creeks and streams out of their banks, which flooded roads, stranded motorists, and damaged vehicles.Runoff from heavy rain resulted in moderate to major flooding on the Dan River.
