Slow moving thunderstorms developed in the foothills and mountains. Several repeating severe thunderstorms moved across the east side of Asheville causing multiple reports of large hail and some urban flooding. Some trees were blown down north of Lenoir. A severe thunderstorm moved southwest across Gaston county blowing down very large trees and causing a houseboat on Lake Wylie to blow loose and cross the lake. Houses on and near the lake were lightly damaged. There was frequent, intense lightning with the storms.
