A severe thunderstorm spawned a tornado which briefly touched down in an open field in Verona township. The twister was only on the ground for about 20 seconds before lifting back up into the cloud deck as reported by a skywarn spotter who witnessed the event.

A severe thunderstorm spawned a tornado which briefly touched down in an open field in Verona township. The twister was only on the ground for about 20 seconds before lifting back up into the cloud deck as reported by a skywarn spotter who witnessed the event. Damage as a direct result of the tornado was minimal. Evidence of a cross wind pattern in the tall grass of the field was noted.
