As a cold front moved southeast toward the area during the late afternoon, a line of severe thunderstorms formed.As this line moved northeast, severe thunderstorms produced high winds that knocked down trees and power lines.Here are some specifics:In Essex County - Wind gusts were measured at 65 knots in West Orange at 435 pm EST and 50 knots at Newark Airport at 436 pm EST. In Union County - In addition to wind damage, 1/4 inch diameter hail also occurred at Scotch Plains at 442 pm EST.In Bergen County - Wind damage also occurred at Hasbrouck Heights at 445 pm EST, where one male was injured when a hotel revolving door fell on him.
