What happened

The episode as NWS BOX wrote it up.

A strong storm system moving through southern New England brought two to three and one-half inches of rainfall on April 16th to southern New Hampshire. The ground had remained saturated after snowmelt of a record snowfall during the previous week. Heavy runoff from this rainfall flooded homes and roads in some communities. In Nashua, an overflowing storm drain caused flooding of at least two homes. A large sinkhole developed on a Nashua street. In Goffstown, about a dozen homes were evacuated and about 30 people were asked to voluntarily move to higher ground along the Piscataquog River as water levels rose to knee-deep around some of the homes. In Peterborough, a cellar collapsed at one home but no injuries were reported. The Piscataquog River crested at Goffstown at 9.93 feet at 4 AM on the 17th; flood stage is 9 feet. The Merrimack River crested at Goffs Falls at 12.29 feet at 12:26 AM on the 18th; flood stage is 11 feet. Minor flooding was reported along the Souhegan River at Merrimack and along the Contoocook River at Peterborough in Hillsborough County.
