Ashley creek west of Kalispell ran out of its banks on 4/10/96 and began to flood homes. Stillwater River also ran out of its banks and flooded low lying areas in southeast parts of Kalispell. Flood waters filled fields on 4/14/96 of east Flathead Valley farmers with road closures and washouts. Flood waters ruined the winter wheat crop. On 4/15/96 flood waters on the Stillwater River caused a log jams on bridges north of Kalispell with numerous road washouts and slumping of Twin Bridges road. On 4/17/97 flood waters caused roads to be closed and washed out in Whitefish.
