Freezing rain began in central Missouri around midday and spread east into the afternoon and evening hours. Roads quickly became ice covrered resulting in numerous traffic accidents across the region. At least 2 deaths resulted from the accidents. Schools in Jefferson City were released early as the freezing rain began to accumulate. Washington County was particularly hard hit, with at least 8000 customers left without electricity.
