Severe weather developed north of a stationary front on the 12th. The strongest storms moved across the far southern part of Michigan during the late afternoon on the 12th. The most damage was done in Lenawee county, where hailstones with diameters of up to 2.5 inches did widespread damage to windows, roofs and alluminum siding. One man was injured when large hail broke through the windshield of his car. In western Lenawee county, haildrifts of up to a foot deep were reported. In addition, wind associated with the storms downed trees, flattened a few barns, and knocked down a quansit hut. A tornado was reported near Ottawa Lake, in Monroe county, but no damage occurred. Farther north, several reports of large hail and strong winds were received in the Saginaw/Midland area, where power outages affected over 2000 customers late in the afternoon.
