Bands of thunderstorms with damaging lightning moved through Worcester County, slightly injuring an Auburn woman and igniting fires in Worcester, Oxford, and Auburn. In East Brookfield, lightning knocked out the two-way police radio communication system. Power failures affected 6,800 customers in Auburn and smaller outages occurred in Oxford and Millbury.
