A large and damaging severe thunderstorm rolled south from Nebraska into Phillips and Rooks counties late in the afternoon. Winds of 70 to 90 mph and hail to the size of golfballs were common. In northern Rooks county, nearly 75,000 acres of agricultural land suffered some damage. Rainfall amounts in excess of 4 inches resulting flooding of many county roads and culverts. Property damage to homes and vehicles in northwest Rooks county was extensive. A church camp near Webster Reservior also sustained heavy damage.
