A strong low level jet formed over the plains of Kansas and Oklahoma with wind speeds in excess of 40 knots. Surface dew point temperatures rose to the middle 60s during the late afternoon hours. Low pressure formed over Kansas with a warm front extending east across northern Missouri. A mesoscale convective complex formed over southwest Iowa, producing hail and gusty winds. Most of the weather was below severe limits however. One storm did become severe briefly with WSR-88D VIL values of 74 kg/m**2 with the cell. Widespread hail was reported around the Atlantic are of Cass County. Most of it was pea to marble size, however golfball size hail fell northwest of Atlantic producing crop and some property damage.
