Flood in Hawaii, August 31, 1996
Heavy showers produced street flooding in Manoa, Nuuanu and Moiliili. Although there were no reports of streams exceeding their banks, a 50 year-old woman was swept away and drowned when she fell into the rain swollen Waiomao Stream above the Palolo Valley.

Heavy showers produced street flooding in Manoa, Nuuanu and Moiliili. Although there were no reports of streams exceeding their banks, a 50 year-old woman was swept away and drowned when she fell into the rain swollen Waiomao Stream above the Palolo Valley. She lost her balance and fell into the stream while rescuing a boy who had fallen into the stream during a day hike.
