On the afternoon of the 31st, high dewpoints in conjunction with a weak upper level disturbance and plenty of daytime heating aided in the development of severe thunderstorms. These storms moved across the southeastern and eastern counties of Kiowa, Prowers, and Baca, producing very large hail, damaging winds, and numerous funnel clouds.

On the afternoon of the 31st, high dewpoints in conjunction with a weak upper level disturbance and plenty of daytime heating aided in the development of severe thunderstorms. These storms moved across the southeastern and eastern counties of Kiowa, Prowers, and Baca, producing very large hail, damaging winds, and numerous funnel clouds. Tornadoes were reported across the eastern half of Kiowa county and in northern Prowers county.
