Damaging Wind in Colorado, July 13, 1996
A line of thunderstorms moved through Larimer, Weld, Adams and Arapahoe Counties during the afternoon and evening hours. The storms produced several funnel clouds, at least two tornadoes that touched down near Strasburg, large hail, heavy rainfall and severe thunderstorm winds to 70 mph.

A line of thunderstorms moved through Larimer, Weld, Adams and Arapahoe Counties during the afternoon and evening hours. The storms produced several funnel clouds, at least two tornadoes that touched down near Strasburg, large hail, heavy rainfall and severe thunderstorm winds to 70 mph. These winds were responsible for flipping three semi-trucks on their sides along Interstate 70, east of Bennett. A few cars were also overturned. Damage to crops and property in the path of the storms was extensive. Hail and strong thunderstorm winds were largely responsible for the damage. In Weld County, no exact dollar estimates were available but damage to crops was expected to climb into the millions of dollars. In Adams County, damage to crops was estimated to be around $6.5 million with property damage totalling $220,000.
